Perfectly positioned at the end of the platform of the Launceston Steam Railway, Railway Cottage is a steam train enthusiasts delight. This unique and rather magical location takes you back in time with original signage, beautifully restored carriages and majestic steam engines. The owners also own the railway and convenient onsite café which opens when the railway is open. And your stay here includes a free train ride along the stunning Kensey Valley!
Railway Cottage has many original features and is ideal for a family holiday, couple or solo adventure. The cosy sitting-room leads into the pretty courtyard garden with garden furniture perfectly positioned overlooking the platform. The kitchen is well-equipped and has original restored stained-glass windows with another view of the platform and railway line. You will also find a separate dining room, ideal for sociable holiday meals. The bathroom and cloakroom are situated on the ground floor with a steep turning staircase leading to the two bedrooms, a double-bedded room and a twin room.
Outside, you will also find a handy outhouse for storing bikes, walking boots and beach equipment.
Situated close to the town centre, all the delights of Launceston are a stroll away, including majestic Launceston Castle and many eclectic shops and eateries. Walkers will find a good selection of countryside walks from the doorstep and, a drive away the stunning landscapes of Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor waiting to be discovered. The grand houses and gardens of Cotehele, Castle Drogo and Lanhydrock make for an interesting day out, or perhaps head for the north coast and the surfing beaches of Bude Widemouth Bay and Polzeath.
