Station House was built by the Hull and Selby Railway company in 1838 as an operational station building and station masters house, in 1877 the North Eastern Railway extended the building by putting a single storey extension on the west end of the building.
Station Cottage is a recent comprehensive, unique conversion of the 1851 granite and sandstone railway station. It has retained many authentic features such as the original station clock. Within the Lake District National Park on the Carlisle to Barrow plarform of Bootle Station Cumbria which is a request station with a manned, grade II listed signal box.
